Laurie Schroeder, a three-year assistant at Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) opponent, Clarke University, in Dubuque, Iowa, has been named the new Peru State head volleyball coach. Schroeder will began her position on March 1, 2017.
Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider commented, "Coach Schroeder brings a wealth of experience to Peru State College. She has coached in several quality collegiate volleyball programs and has high school and club experience as well. She understands what it takes to be successful and is a proven recruiter and developer of talent. The places she has coached all coaches and administrators speak highly of her coaching ability and value her integrity. We look forward to Coach Schroeder taking the volleyball program to the next level."
While at Clarke, Schroeder assisted head coach Chris Miron to three consecutive 20-win seasons. As the head junior varsity coach, Schroeder compiled a 23-13 record.
The Greenleaf, Wis. native has a variety of volleyball coaching experiences. Prior to her Clarke position, Schroeder was an assistant coach at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill. In addition, she was an assistant volleyball coach at Wrightstown (Wisc.) High School and also served as a graduate assistant at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Also, Schroeder served as the head coach of the Sky High Volleyball Club from 2010-2013.
Schroeder completed her bachelor of science in exercise science at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wis., in 2006. In 2008, she completed her master's degree in sport administration from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
